The Barcelona bench was inspired by the Barcelona chair designed in 1929. The Barcelona Chair was originally created for the German Pavilion, for Germany's exhibition for the 1929 Barcelona World Fair. It has become an icon of modernism and received the honoured Museum of Modern Art Award in 1977.
