The Tulip table was designed by Eero Saarinen at the peak of his career in 1957. It is often considered, "space age", for the creative use of materials and curves.
His work in the 1940s began focusing on "organic furniture" in which he wanted to get rid of the "sea of legs" that he saw creating "...an unpleasant, confused and restless atmosphere." This table is now considered a classic of industrial design.
The top and base of the table is moulded fiberglass, with a painted gloss finish.
